Is YouTube Really Second Largest Search Engine?

​How many of you use YouTube daily? Well, YouTube is probably the second most visited site on my list just after Google. Even YouTube has been considered as second largest search engine next to Google. As per Alexa report, YouTube even beats some popular search engines like Yahoo, Bing, Baidu, etc. You may think how a video sharing site is so much popular? Is it as important as we use Google or Yahoo for information search? Does really YouTube has that potential to solve user's problem or provide data that users are looking for? 

Before explaining all these, check the screenshot first. It is taken from Alexa, which is a web ranking company owned by Amazon.So, you can see that Yahoo is the second most popular site on the web. And their growth is increasing dramatically day by day. I would not be surprised if one day YouTube beats Google regarding the number of visitors. Videos are now more popular than text-only content. Why? Because graphical representation is more attractive than just only text. Try to remember the history of the computer. We used DOS (Disk Operating System) as an operating system. We called it CUI (Character User Interface). It was full text based and such an annoying thing and looking odd. Then Microsoft brings Windows. Which is basically GUI (Graphical User Interface) type. It has been evolved day by day. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (I use currently), Windows 8, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. If anybody uses Windows 98 and Windows 10, he/she will understand that huge difference. So we tend to the graphical interface more. Now infographic is more popular than a normal blog post, which is delivering the same content. Because, infographic makes the matter easier, easier to understand to us. If you use Facebook for last 3-4 years, you can see that video shares are now more popular. Funny video clips, prank video clips has been shared by millions of Facebook users. And this is the era of e-learning. Students prefer learning courses over a textbook. Udemy is the biggest example of this. You can get almost of all learning courses in Udemy. Here are the examples of courses on "Content Marketing". If this price is too much for you, you can alternatively go to Fiverr and buy this for 5-10 dollars. It is far better for learner rather than a tutorial book. Graphical representation makes a big difference. Videos are so important nowadays. 

YouTube was founded by three former Paypal employees- Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim. It is one of the brilliant decisions made by Google to buy YouTube for 1.65 billion dollars. YouTube is growing very fast. If you consider India, YouTube views/users have been increased tremendously because of Mukesh Ambani's Jio. As Jio provided almost 6-7 months free unlimited internet to all users. People take advantage of it. Jio crossed 100 million customers within three months. I went to a Google Adsense seminar last year in Kolkata. A presentation has been shown to us, that the probable numbers of YouTube users and internet users at present and by 2020. I am damn sure that Jio's growth has a significant impact on their statistics.

Now let me answer all the previous questions. YouTube is so popular cause people finds an easier way to get the solution of their problem from videos. It is as much important as google or yahoo in terms of solving our queries. Suppose you want to know the best smartphones of 2017 under 120000 rupees. Here are the results. Look at the second video. So as well as he can help the global visitors by his original YouTube channel. In the say way, he helps those Indians who do not understand fluent English at all. The original singer is James Bay, and Megan covered it. I listen to the cover version more over the original James Bay version. Austin Mahone was a cover singer. As I gave the example of Justin Bieber, so this is the power of YouTube. Now after Jio, all telecom providers in India have been forced to lower their data pack price. Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, Aircel, BSNL all have to reduce the price to keep pace with Jio. Even broadband providers have to decrease the price. For example, I used 750 rupees package for 1.5 Mbps speed with unlimited data. From this month, I have shifted to 570 rupees package for 5 Mbps speed with unlimited data. So can you feel the condition of the telecom market in India? Now data pack is very very cheap, and it will be affordable for almost all Indians, as you know India is not a rich country like United States, Canada, UK, or Australia. So when then get the cheap unlimited package, it's normal to watch videos on YouTube. I have some friends who have reputed YouTube channels, and they said, their views has been increased a lot. So for Jio, YouTubers get an advantage.
