The Feit smart bulbs offer a variety of features that make them user friendly and energy efficient at the same time, enabling customers to save costs and enjoy the multiple features ranging from dimming to changing color temperatures etc.

Setting up a Feit smart bulb is not a very difficult task. These bulbs can easily be managed by the apps on the mobile phones or through voice command transmitted through the smart home systems like Alexa  or Google. 

Why Is My Feit Bulb Not Connecting?

In this read, we will address the various issues that may prevent a Feit bulb from connecting to the network. But first, let’s briefly overlook how the bulb is connected to the network and consequently added on the app. 

  • Like other smart bulbs, the Feit bulb also requires a WIFI connection with 2.4 GHz frequency.
  • We may then proceed to downloading and installing the Feit Electric app on our device. 
  • Now connect to the WIFI network and register online in the app. Consumers can register through their email or phone number. If you are already registered, you can simply go ahead and log in. 
  • Allow the app to use Bluetooth and your location, and also to send you notifications. Enter your location name and check whether your device is added. 
  • Once this is done, before proceeding make sure that your bulb is installed and turned on. If it is not added already, you may have to manually add the device in your app through clicking the plus sign on the top right corner of the screen.
  • Click on the lighting device feature on the app. The device should be turned on and blinking so that it can be picked up by the app. Select the device once it shows and add it. 
  • You will then be required to insert your accurate WIFI password. Failure to do so may end up in a failed effort to set up the light device. 
  • Once the password is entered successfully, then the device will be added and you can rename the device to your liking. Now save the device and you can similarly add more Feit bulbs to your device. You can now continue to enjoy the luxury of controlling your light features even when you are in a remote location.

Why won’t my Feit bulb connect to the WiFi?

Following the guidelines stated above, you may easily be able to set up the bulbs. However if this is not the case and the bulb is not connecting to the WIFI, there may be an explanation for this. Let’s look in to a few reasons

Network bandwidth: As mentioned earlier the Feit smart bulb is only compatible with a network of 2.4GHz frequency. If the frequency is 5, which is although more efficient, the bulb will not connect to the network. Do check the bandwidth of your network and make amendments if needed. This can easily be done by going in to the advanced settings of your router and changing the bandwidth from 5GHz to 2.4 GHz.

Refreshing the router: In case the bandwidth is not the problem and the smart bulb is not connecting to the network, you can try unplugging your router and plugging it back in after some time. Give it at least half a minute before plugging it back in. This will refresh the router and may resolve the connectivity problem.

WIFI signal strength: Do check the connectivity signal strength. Often it so happens that the router is placed at a considerable distance from the smart device and the signal strength may not be strong enough to enable a connection. 

Interference in connection: You also need to ensure that there isn’t a proxy server turned on in your mobile devices. This may also prevent the device from connecting to the WIFI. 

Feit Bulb not connecting to Alexa

The Feit bulbs are compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google home. When you open the Alexa app, go to the top left corner of the screen and select menu. From the menu, tap on the skills and games and type Feit Electric in the search bar. 

When it appears, click the enable option. Now enter the user name and password from your Feit Electric app. It will then ask you to authorize. Now click done and instruct Alexa to automatically discover and devices. You can then add them under the device section.

In case the device is not connecting to Alexa, you can proceed to figure out how to connect it to the app. Make sure that both Alexa and your smart bulb are on the same WIFI network. Try restarting both the light device and Alexa by unplugging them and then plugging them back in after a brief interval.

If the Feit bulb stops working after having been previously connected to the Alexa app, try disconnecting the Feit bulb from Alexa by disabling the skill and then re-enabling it. 

Feit Bulb not connecting to Google Assistant

On your Google Assistant app, tap on the small circle in the top right corner of the screen and choose assistant. Tap on the home control option for adding a device. You will be directed to a menu from which you can choose Feit Electric. Enter username and password from the Feit Electric App and enable linking the device. 

Once you authorize, tap done and return to devices to allocate a room. When you add smart bulbs in your Feit Electric app, they will be automatically added in the Google Assistant. In case it is not connecting, make sure that you have a strong WIFI connection, and your Feit bulb and Google Assistant are on the same network. Try unplugging your device and Google Assistant and then turning them on again. 

In case the device was previously being controlled by Google Home but stopped responding to the Google Assistant commands, you can try unlinking your added smart bulb from Google and then re-linking it. This may help revive the connection between the Feit smart bulb and Google Home.
